The updated 2013 Audi S4 sedan and wagon and A4 Allroad wagon were unveiled, along with the face-lifted A4 sedan and A4 Avant wagon, today in Germany. In response to a query Wednesday, an Audi spokesperson said the A4 Allroad would be added to the U.S. lineup next June, joining the 2013 Audi S4 facelift and the Audi A4 redesign.
The sauciest A4 present will be this model, the new Audi S4, considered by many to be the real gem of the range, especially in comparison to the seriously costly RS4. The A4 family will arrive on the US market in Summer 2012, but the new details surrounding the 2013 Audi S4 – the most powerful version of the family – have already been released.
It’s best to call this 2013 Audi S4 the “latest” S4, because it is definitely not all-new. However, the 2013 Audi S4 does partake of the mid-cycle changes to the “B8″ eighth-generation. For now, though, we really don’t need big changes – we’ll be happy if the 2013 Audi S4 changes remains our lower-volume secret.
As for the updates, the 2013 Audi S4 has received changes to the headlights, the bumpers, the air inlets, and its colors, with subtle changes scattered in the interior. The 2013 Audi S4 changes made to the exterior offer more elegance, sportiness, and emotional appeal. Audi has also equipped the 2013 Audi S4 with an S sport suspension and 18″ wheels.
The 2013 Audi S4 has received LED daytime running lights that form a narrow, optically homogeneous band that remains open in the vicinity of the xenon lens. At the rear, the 2013 Audi S4 bumper has also been redesigned and is combined with tail lights that share the same shape as the headlights.
The 2013 Audi S4 still brandishing 329 horsepower between 5,500 and 6,500 rpm and 325 pound-feet of torque from 2,900 to 5,300 rpm, the S4′s 3.0-liter supercharged and direct-injected V6 has been a big crowd pleaser ever since it started showing up in hotter Audis (and other VW Group products) a few years back. The 2013 Audi S4 0 to 60 estimates remain at 4.9 seconds, though we’ve seen 4.7 seconds out of the departing model.
And, of course, rather than electronically limiting this hotter Audi A4 redesign to the usual 130 mph, the 2013 Audi S4 receives a 155-mph v-max. The 2013 Audi S4 engine is mated to a seven-speed S tronic and is distinguished by convenient and precise operation, high efficiency and a wide spread of gear ratios – the long ratios in the higher gears reduces fuel consumption, while the short ratios in the lower gears benefit the dynamics.
Competitors 2013 Audi S4
We already loved the revamped 2013 Audi A4 facelift, and the combination of attributes that the higher-performance 2013 Audi S4 assembles is very compelling stuff that no one else quite matches. Being the top model of the A4 family, the 2013 Audi S4 targets vehicles such as the BMW 335i, the Mercedes-Benz C350, and the Lexus IS350.
Comparing power, price, and mileage, the 2013 Audi S4 seems to be the customer’s best bang for their buck. Overall, the 2013 Audi S4 doesn’t shout about its performance credentials, it’s much more muted than something one might expect from the performance arms of other German automakers. The new 2013 Audi S4 will go on sale in the US market in summer 2012.The 2013 Audi S4 prices are expected to only show a slight increase from the current models which start at $32,500.
